FURNACE REPLACEMENT BOARDS FAULT CODE 9

I am posting this again since there are probably a lot of Techs out there who are new to this site.

IF YOU ARE REPLACING ANY OF THE OLDER BOARDS IN A YORK FURNACE WITH THE NEW REPLACEMENT BOARDS:

S1-33102956000 SINGLE STAGE BOARD

S1-33102954000 2-STAGE PSC MOTOR BOARD

S1-33102977000  2-STAGE VARIABLE SPEED MOTOR

AND YOU GET A FAULT CODE 9 ON THE NEW CONTROL –REVERSE THE 2 WIRES ON THE SECONDARY SIDE OF THE TRANSFORMER (R & C), RECYCLE THE POWER AND THE FAULT CODE SHOULD CLEAR.

When replacing an older variable speed motor CFM programming board with the new  combination board (has both the ignition control and CFM programming board combined into one control) you will need to order a wiring harness  S1-02541103000.

Hopefully this information will assit you in solving the Fault Code 9 — reversed polarity — on a replacement board.  Keep in mind that, both reversed line voltage polarity and an improper ground can also cause this but if you have checked and verified that those are correct, then reverse the secondary side of the transformer and the fault code should clear.

About yorkcentraltechtalk

I have been in the HVAC industry most of my life. I worked 25 years for contractors on anything from residential to large commercial boilers and power burners. For the past 20 years I have been employed by York International UPG Division (now a division of Johnson Controls) as a Technical support/Service Manager but I am now retiring. One of my loves has always been to "educate" dealers and contractors. I place a very large effort on Dealer Training. The reason for starting this blog was to share some knowledge, thoughts, ideas, etc with anyone who takes the time to read it. The contents of this blog are my own opinions, thoughts, experiences and should not be construed as those of Johnson Controls York UPG in any way. I hope you find this a help. I always welcome comments and suggestions for postings and will do my best to address any thoughts, questions, or topics you may want to hear about. Thanks for taking the time to read my postings! Dj048 n10 rooftop unit keep blower on ( no stop) after a call for heat, giving 9 fault code, replace control board (s1-03102993000)

    • Fault code 9 on main board simply means the heating section has a problem. What is the flash code on the ignition control?
do you have 24VAC to the terminal marked LIMIT on the main board (lower right hand corner of the board)?
